Serves as the subject matter expert of Health Information clerical functions to both internal and external customers. Supports and performs both electronic and paper processes related to the medical record.
High School Graduate. Some college or technical training a plus. Minimum 2 years of previous HIM/medical record clerical experience required. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Completion of Norwalk Hospital's course required. Written, telephone and manual dexterity skills.
Teamwork and customer service skills Must be able to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks Ability to work with the public and patient population for HIM related issues Demonstrates strong working knowledge of HIM processes, as well as applicable rules and regulations relevant to the position, i.e., JCAHO, Release of Information/HIPAA, etc. Obtain Notary Public License dependent upon duty assignment Proficiency to perform the Health Information Associate role as needed
