Job Summary

The Front Desk Receptionist will welcome visitors upon arrival at main and outpatient reception areas for Norwalk Hospital assigning visitor badges and supplying informational services such as confirming appointments, room locations and phone numbers.  


The incumbent is essential in creating a positive first impression reflective of our mission to know the patient well by demonstrating efficiency and friendliness, as well as, being knowledgeable of hospital policies (e.g. patient confidentiality).


Patient care is “center” taking place 24 hours daily with no boundaries related to time, day, weather or holiday.

Job Requirements


  • One (1) year of job related receptionist experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work:
    • Available to work 4 and 8 hour rotating shifts scheduled between the hours of 5:30am – 8:00pm;
    • 20 hours weekly;
    • Every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday);
    • Occasional holidays; and
    • Available to accept coverage shift(s) for unplanned (illness) and planned (vacation) absence.
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to interact with people in a courteous and professional manner.


  • Prior experience in customer service and medical industry.
  • Bilingual Spanish.
  • Ability to read and hear without special accommodation.
