Job Summary

Participates in acceptance and commissioning of new Linear Accelerators, other treatment devices and treatment planning systems. Assists in development and maintenance of quality assurance program for all treatment and localization modalities, computational equipment and calibration instruments. Shares responsibilities with Chief Physicist in all physical aspects of treatment, including consultations with physicians and therapists, acquisition and storage of data for treatment plans. Implement newer techniques in treatment planning and delivery, completes treatment plans for external beam therapy and brachytherapy seed implants and ensuring accurate transfer of treatment parameters between planning system, simulator and treatment unit. Carries out calibration and QC tests of linear accelerators, simulator, on board imager and cone beam CT. Executes other assigned radiation physics related duties and work with hospital radiation safety officer in implementing a radiation safety program within the department.

Job Requirements

Masters Degree in Physics or Medical Physics required, Ph D preferred. ABR or ABMP Certification with 5 years clinical experience in Radiation Oncology Physics.
